Egress Window Installation

Egress windows are a great way to add natural light, ventilation and are typically required for any basements with finished bedrooms. The building codes for these exit windows are very specific and it takes a foundation drainage expert, like 20000 Leaks to install them properly. In addition to meeting the county codes, it’s important to make sure your Egress window has the proper drainage to keep the water from pooling and entering your basement.

Egress Window Installation 20,000 Leaks Under The Basement

Before any Egress window installation our team would contact Ms. Utility to mark the area for any buried utility lines. The designated area for the Egress window is then excavated and the foundation wall is cut to accommodate the new window. The window style can be sliding or in-swing but must meet the minimum width and height requirements according to code. The 20000 Leaks team will discuss the best option for you. After the installation of the window the shroud is set and the well base is graveled for proper drainage. The drain is installed in the base and just like a standard window well drain it’s connected to the interior subgrade waterproofing system to pump the water out of the well. The well base is then sealed with concrete, the ladder is installed on the shroud wall and the cover or grate is placed on top. The final step is to backfill and tamp the area around the shroud.
